Quit being sheep - the media wants you to be upset. Why? It distracts you from the real issues: economy, jobs, healthcare cost, mortgage crisis, OWS, etc. Point is.....to any of these politicians, $10k is nothing. Here are some examples:
1) Recent history: Callista Gingrich reported $250-$500k debt to Tiffany's, the crown jeweler to America. Wow! No costume stuff for that Mary Kay on steriods. I'm a shopaholic but even I wouldn't spend *waste* that much at Tiffany's - especially if one could just go straight to Harry Winston or Buccellati! Guess the credit terms weren't as favorable. But please let me know who out there has that just sitting in their jewelry "portfolio"!
2) Past history: And has everyone forgotten Cindy McCain's outfit @ the RNC was estimated at $300k: Chanel J12 watch,,,,$5.5k, 50's style designer dress (Oscar de la Renta)...?, etc. Her money (from her family alcohol distribution) was the force behind his campaign.
3) The B*shes: Anyone care to guess? Remember the prez pushed back the Clinton era disclosure laws to give the family time to "place" their wealth. And since they are "comparatively" old money, they don't flaunt it like McCain and Gingrich. Just some tasteful endowments to the alma mater, ensuring that the IQ challenged scions will be able to place an Ivy on their resumes. Plus the matriarch who wants the poor children to read - but let's not feed or shelter them. No, that certainly would do.
The GOP is the party of the wealthy elite but it needs the 99% to believe otherwise. So what do they use to convince people? The media. And the media wants Newt, a good ol' Georgia boy, in front....and who controls the media? Oh yeah, corporations. How? Media revenue comes from advertising ie corporate $$. And who really controls the corporations? The wealthy as shareholders, board members, etc. Are you getting the picture yet? So if Newt screws up, do you think it will be breaking headlines? No.
The only GOP candidates with any substance are Paul and Romney...but the media doesn't like them. Why? Simple - Gingrich will be so easier to manipulate....
And last, but not least, does anyone remember what happened the last time we had a president from Georgia? This Georgia peach certainly does....

Recount
During the 2000 election, I lived in one of the smallest states in the union - Rhode Island. Now living in Florida, I've had the experience (though I can't say pleasure) of meeting Katherine Harris, an infamous icon of the recount.
Watching Recount again today, among the many facts presented in the Hollywood movie, three stood out:
1) in only the second time in its history, the Supreme Court limited a ruling only to the specific case (Bush v Gore)
2) the Republican congressional aides who were flown in on the Enron private jet to disrupt the count in Miami-Dade
3) the email that effectively purged approximately 20K legitimate voters from the rolls
Ten years out and looking back on the *ush years - a legacy of 9/11, war, horrific environmental policies and domestic (example - Enron) to worldwide financial devastation (2008), one must ask...."How different would our lives be today if Gore was in office from 2000-2008?"

Political Awakening
Stranger things have happened but I credit my true political awakening to an urban legend. When I received the email "Obama in Kenya", I saw that it had been rapidly forwarded multiple times. I researched the "facts" outlined and wrote my response, posted unedited below...
On this Memorial Day weekend, here is my tribute to our First Amendment. My ancestors who fought in the American Revolution and wars since have assured me this right….no matter what the current political climate! They felt so strongly about their liberty that they left their homes and lands in England, Scotland, Ireland and Holland to come to the colonies in the early 1700’s. From them, I am “Garg'n Uair Dhuisgear"!
Next time, before you blithely hit forward….check and then re-check your facts! Over 150+ people were on the email entitled Obama in Kenya (full text is below)….did any of you question its authenticity or the source? Obama in Kenya
Good friend of ours sent this - Celeste and Loren Davis are missionaries in Africa and can shed some light on one of our Presidential candidates.
Thanks for sending out alert about Obama. We are living and working in Kenya for almost 12 years now and know his family (tribe) well.. They are the ones who were behind the recent Presidential election chaos here. Thousands of people have been displaced by election violance (over 350,000) and I don't know the last count of the dead. Obama under "friends of Obama" gave almost a million dollars to the opposition campaign who just happened to be his cousin, Raila Odinga, who is a socialist trained in East Germany. He has been trying to bring Kenya down for years and the last president threw him in prison for trying to subvert this country! December 27th elections brought cries from ODM (Odinga Camp) of rigged election. Obama and Raila speak daily. As we watch Obama rise in the U.S we are sure that whatever happens, he will use the same tactic, crying rigged election if he doesn't win and possibly cause a race war in America. What we would like you to know is what the American press has been keeping secret. Obama is a Muslem and he is a racist and this is a fullfillment of the 911 threat that was just the beginning. Jihad is the 0nly true muslim way. We have been working with them for 20 years this July! He is not an American as we know it. Please encourage your friends and associates not to be taken in by those that are promoting him. It is worldwide Jihad. All our friends in Europe are very disturbed by rhe muslim infiltration into their countries. By the way, his true name is Barak Hussein Muhammed Obama. Won't that sound sweet to our enemies as they swear him in on the Koran! God bless you and pray for us here in Kenya. We are still fighting for our nation to withstand the same kind of assault that every nation, incuding America, is fighting. Takeover from the outside to fit the new world order. As believers, this means we will be the first targets. Here in Kenya, not one mosque was burned down, but hundreds of churches were burned down, some of them with people in them, buried alive! Jesus Christ is our peace but the new world order of Globalism has infiltrated the church and confused believers into thinking they can compromise and survive. It won't be so.
